Courier service set up for Raetihi prescriptions
Raetihi people who need prescriptions have a couple of options since the town's pharmacy closed recently. They can have their prescriptions filled in Ohakune, or if they are unable to get to Ohakune, Raetihi' s Dr Jim Corbett can fax prescriptions to Taumarunui Pharmacy and staff will send it down on a same-day courier, to be picked lip from Raetihi Hardware. Dr Corbett said they had decided to try the Taumarunui
Pharmacy system "because they offered" and because there was no regular courier from Ohakune. Pipiriki patients can have their prescriptions faxed to Wanganui, to be couriered up on their daily service. Dr Corbett said the system was working so far, but that they were still hoping to find a pharmacist who
was willing to reopen the chemist shop. Meanwhile, Waimarino Health Centre staff report that they are reinforcing the message to Good Health Wanganui staff in Wanganui that they need to ensure that Raetihi patients' prescriptions are filled before they leave Wanganui. "We have had a few patients arrive home without their medication," said a staff member.
