Hot Lava Niteclub Wednesday IS Juie.

Fashion meets the wild west at the annual Ohakune Fashion Show, on this Wednesday night. The evening, traditionally the social event that kicks Off the winter season, is this year beingheld to raise money for the Ohakune Kindergarten. ) T i& E^ishions on show, witb a wild t theme, will be from the JuncSki Shop, Jean City, Williams & Kettle, Th^TMetflfi^ and Annah. As always, the models are mostly locals.or regular winter workers, who volunteer their time for the show as well as*the extensive practise sessions held to create a professional and entertaining show. Also on the catwalk to entertain the crowd will be the local competition line dancing team, led by Ethne Carmichael, and the Ruapehu College Stage Challcnge team. /A $50 vouchef, donated by# (Annah. S, wili be awarded to the best dressed \foman, while a prize for the best dilsled man Has bceii donated by Jean City. The Kindergarten committee and staff have helped organisc the evening, decorating the Hot Lava Niteclub. They plan to use the money for replacing some of the kiady's outdoor equipment including the . carpentry table and the old eable reels which are deteriorating. Awnings on the edge of the verandah are also planned, to help cut down the cold wind during 1 winter. Committee chairperson Raylene Deadman explained that the only money that they receive from the

government is for salaries and major maintenance, while cill other costs are borne by the local kindergarten, with some help from the assdeiation. Of the $25,000- $30,000 needed each year, a third comes from parentsf donations, something less than a thifd from grants from organisations including COGS, Trustbank, the Hillary Commission, and the local pub charity. The rest of their money has to come from fundraising efforts such as the fashion show.
