RDC satisfied with Waiouru protest outcome

Ruapehu mayor, Weston Kirton, has thanked acting chief executive Chris Ryan and members of the Ruapehu District Council for their swift action in resolving the sensitive issue of the Waiouru land occupation. Mr Kirton stated that he was thankful that the issue "was not prolonged with aggravated difficulties and appreciated the co-operation from the District in terms of allowing the Council to systematically work

through the issues". "The Council is satisfied that the occupied area has been left in an acceptable condition and that the occupiers acted in good faith within the conditions laid down," he confirmed. "The Ruapehu District Council is thankful that the Government has seen clear to acknowledge the Ngati Whitikaupeka grievance and hope that they arrive at a satisfactory conclusion," he added.
