Queen's honours for Workman & Winter

Garrick Workman, Ohakune, andNancy Winter, Raetihi, have both been awarded the Queens Service Medal for public service in the Queen's Birthday honours list. Mr Workman' s award follows 2 1 years in local government. He started by serving on the borough council of his home town of Raetihi, becoming mayor in 1983. He was mayor of the Waimarino District and, following amalgamation, the Ruapehu District for seven years. Nancy Winter' s award follows 35 years of community service, for the Crippled Children' s Society, the Raetihi Tennis Club, the swimming club and the PTA for Raetihi School and Ruapehu College.
