Facilities in budget

The Ruapehu District Council' s 1997/ 98 Draft Annual Plan includes a number of both new and on-going projects in the Waimarino as part of the district-wide budget of $1,198,000 set aside for "Parks and Community Facilities" . These include: Ohakune: • The development of arollerblade/skateboard complex (with a budget of $5 1 ,000). The complex, as designed, will be 50 by 40 metres, and sites still being considered are: at the old tennis courts behind the swimming pool; at Christie Park between the stream and the netball court; at the large grass area in Mangawhero Terrace adjacent to 'Old Station Road' extension and ford. Provisional plans have been com-

piled and will be circulated once they are "in a presentable package". • The provision of a small roofed structure at the Ohakune Cemetery for use as a water catchment and tankage to supply water at the cemetery ($2000). Raetihi: • Upgrading the women' s public toilets where it is proposed to use some of the salvaged materials from the existing (but soon to be replaced) women' s toilet facilities in Taumarunui. By utilising recycled materials the cost of the upgrade can be kept down to $8000. Pipiriki: • To provide public toilet facilities at a cost of $33,000.
