Council grants

Grants to be made by the Ruapehu District Council according to its 1997/98 Draft Annual Plan include: • $18,000 to the Safer Community Council. This grant i s made to help cover costs associated with the rent of an office ; • $3000 to community organisations. These grants ate made on application to communities of faith for non-residential buildings and to pre-school facilities operated by community groups to cover the cost of service rates levied; • $2000 towards extraordinary grants. A sub-committee of the council considers applications for financial assistance made on an urgent basis for amounts up to $500 and provided the application is for no more than 50% of the proposed project costs (including voluntary input); • $ 1 500 towards Christmas festivals in T aumarunui, Ohakune and Raetihi for administration costs associated with the Christmas parades; • $1500 to Main Trunk Rail Ohakune to assist with the painting of the relocated signal box in the Ohakune Junction' s railway precinct; • $100 to the Ohakune Garden Club to assist with the cost of prizes for the Ohakune Garden Club's annual garden competition.
