Controlled power times varied
King Country Energy plans to vary the times during which controlled power is supplied to its customers. The variation applies to "night rate" and "night rate with afternoon boost" and the time at which the power is turned on and off may vary by up to half an hour. "It will have no impact on the cost our customers pay or the amount of time during which electricity is. supplied at the reduced costs," said marketing manager Bruce Clow. Mr Clow said the aim was to spread KCE's load requirements to avoid incurring penalty peak demand charges from national grid operator Transpower, and thus keep its prices low. He said KCE uses various methods to avoid high power costs, inCluding load control on hot water this winter."
