Small yard at sale

There was a small yarding at last week's cattle sale and prices were fairly steady. Some small framed heifers fetched $205 to $250, 18 month old heifers realised prices of $227, $251 for the smaller or medium framed and $365 to $458 for the larger beasts which were either Simmental, Charolais, Angus or cross-bred. Steers 18 months fetched from $335 to $442. 2-2&1/2 year steers went for between $342 and $390. Some weaner steers sold for $265 and $305 respectively; a couple of dry cows fetched $202 and $402; a small young heifer that realised $ 1 55; and one horned heifer that went for $287. A pen of 19 2&1/2 year heifers fetched $362. Auctioneers said it was a sound sale, matching prices of saies outside the region.
