Eye on Ruapehu College
CONTRIBUTED BY COLLEGE STAFF • Students from Ruapehu College featured on TV's "Mai Time" on the weekend. Brendon Morgan, Marcia Wood, Hubba Mareikura and Rebecca Clarke gave an insight into life in Ohakune for the show. Congratulations to the students and to the culture group for representing Ruapehu College so well. • Results on the senior speed competitioij were: 1st Margaret Mowat for her speech on Toilet Training; 2nd Mariana Johnson, Abortion; 3rd Ei Leen Voon, Important Issues; 4th Tineke Edwards, Speeches; 5th Rebecca McMaster, Barbie; 6th Steven Sue, America's Cup Bashing. Congratulations to all involved. • Science and maths quizzes were held for the whole school on Wednesday. Results were: Science: 1st Huia; 2nd Weka; 3rd Tui; 4th Kiwi, Maths: 1st Huia; 2nd Kiwi; 3rd= Tui and Weka. • Seniors should be well under way with their study programmes for mid-year examinations which take place 3-6 June, straight after Queen's Birthday weekend. • The Ruapehu College Board of Trustees annual meeting was held last Thursday at the College. The chairperson's report, principals report and financial report were presented and ara available for viewing at the College. • Rebecca Clarke and Steven Sue who ara seniors at the College have visited Raetihi Primary School for the D ARE programme run by the police to help educate young people about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Steven and Rebecca considered questions about the challenges that face teenagers.
