Raetihi woman to captain NI shooters

Raetihi shooter Donna McGrath has been selected to captain the North Island Women' s smallbore rifle shooting team to compete against the South Island team in Wanganui at Queen's Birthday weekend. Donna was one of four from the Waimarino who joined their Wanganui team mates in the "Teams of Ten" shooting event in Masterton — an event that is considered the most prestigious of the year. Selections were made for the North Island team at Masterton. The other Waimarino shooters in Donna' s Number One team were Ken Summerhays and John Scobie and in the Number Two team was Michael Maru. Ken has been chosen for the men's North Island team in the open event. Donna has been shooting for five years and her aim is to shoot for the Silver Ferns.
