• The junior speech finals were held on Tuesday night with a audience of over 40. All competitors spoke exceptionally well but it was the judges, Mrs W Jervis, Miss K Mareikura and Mr D Seifert, who finalised the winners in this order: first, Kate Woodhouse with her thoughts on slavery; second, Vicky Cranston with a humorous speech about her sister and third, Tamara Taputoro who spoke on friends. • On Monday four students' names were drawn (out of those who had 100 per cent attendance for the first term) for a ride in the Tranz Rail Rescue Helicopter. The winners were Mathew Bowsher, Chaise Tasker, Shanon Hays and Llana Waara. Shanon was unable to fly, so Cameron Atkins took his place when the helicopter visited on Wednesday. • The annual inter-whanau cross country took place on Wednesday on Alan Whale's farm.
