Meeting tonight to form society for Ohakune's future
A legally constituted society with ihe aim of /\ improving Ohakune is to be formed tonight A. JLwith the first election of mcmbers (see classified advertisement). Two meetings have been held since ihe 'Think Tank' public meeting at the Ohakune Club on 9 April. At the smaller meetings, a set of guidelines were drafted on the structure and aims of the society. They are seeking to have a good spread of people to re present as many sectors of the Ohakune community as possible. The group does not want the society to become a business association or solely representative of any single sector. said a group representative. Aims of the society have been deliberately set aside until the group is officially formed. After the election of members, a number of proposed projects and aims will be discussed and prioritised. "The more people who attend, the more democratic it will be." Also to be discussed is the name of the new society.
