Rest trust concert bursting at the seams

Raetihi School' s hall was so jampacked for the rest home trust concert on Saturday night that some people stood outside to hear the performances of local people. The variety concert started with entertainment from Raetihi pupils which included some cultural input, dressing up and novelty songs and skits. The adult section included the community choir who sang songs from the early thirties and forties, including wartirhe songs such as Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye and Vera Lynn's White Cliffs OfDover. Other acts included Geoff Fahey's rendition of Old Man River supported by the choir, Maire Scarrow and Steve Grey, the Richards family, the McDonnell/ Perkins Matoe families, including a solo from Billy McDonnell. The Ruapehu Country and Western group of Don Mihinui, Oscar Kopu, Don

Robinson and Rosanne Mareikura play ed as a backing group with Don and Rosanne presenting two

items. School principal Grant Fountain was master of ceremonies. Trust representative Bob

Peck said they raised $ 1474. He acknowledged Dorothy Scarrow for the work organising the evening.
