Rider in team for Hong Kong

Raetihi PonyClub rider Sally Williams has been selected for the New Zealand Pony Clubs Association Inter-Pacific team to tour Hong Kong and China in August. She will represent the King Country area in the team which was announced Saturday evening last week after the 25 candidates were interviewed and judged on their riding ability on strange horses. Inter-Pacific exchanges are held every two years and hosted by a different country each exchange. Other countries taking part are Australia, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and sometimes the US and United Kingdom. Teams will travel from Hong Kong to Shanghai and compete in the Nations Cup competition — a two-round show jumping event on borrowed horses. The host club will also organise another event where the teams are usually mixed. The team of four will leave on 18 August and retum on 1 September.
