Success for King Country riders
The King Country Horse Trials Championship Team returned from Auckland with the prestig ious horse management award. This award recognises the dedication and hard work which goes on behind the scenes and encompasses fair play, tumout and general horse care by the team throughout the two day competition and is decided by anonymous judges. The event, held at the picturesque Ambury Park in Mangere, had mixed results for King Country who were
unable to finish with a team score after meeting problems in the cross-country phase. The cours£ was beautifully built with the jumps being bold and technical and proved very demanding for all competitors. Nicola Smith (Raetihi) on Pal-O-Mine performed very well and was placed 15th in the DC section fmishing on her dressage score after the cross-country and showjumping phases. Sally Williams (Raetihi) Integrity was placed 22nd in the A1 section. Overall team placings: 1st- Waikato; 2nd - Manawatu West-Coast; 3rd- Taranaki; 4th- Hawkes Bay.
