Busy days at Waiouru's TKR

Making the most oi their free time before lunch is served are, from left, Wairere Leef, Hanham Lambert and Tremaine King. These three children and the others who make up the full roil oi 20 who attend Waiouru's language nest behind the marae are kept busy and happy from 9am until 3pm each weekday. Kaiako (supervisor) Shirley Rukupo and her two Kaiawhina (assistants) Marie Cooper and Tui Manahi provide a balanced programme oi teaching activities and free play for the children. All care-givers at the Kohango Reo have completed or are in the process of completing their tuatahu or Maori teaching training.
