Waimarino squash club goes social
The Waimarino Squash Club has decided to become a "social" squash club. Thi s means that the club would no longer be fully affiliated with the national and central districts association and not be entitled to a grading list. However, individual members could choose to remain with the club and become an associate member of the Ohakune Club at a reduced fee agreed by upon by that club. This would allow those members to remain graded. After much discussion members voted unanimously to become a social club. While the club is in good heart finan-
cially, one of the main reasons for the change is to attract ex-members back to the club, young people and families. The affiliated fees were considered too much for many, particularly families. Other reasons given were that since the Ohakune club was formed, residents in Ohakune naturally join their local club, and college students also join Ohakune as the facilities are on college grounds. In other business, club elected their committee: treasurer Danelle Vaughan, secretary Amiria Teki, committee, Tulia Fredericksen, Lynley and Neil Graham, Alex O'Reilly, Jo Perkinson, Kathy Reid.
