Malaysian feast finale

As a finale for the term's unit on Asian cultures, children in Rooms 29 and 30 of the Junior Department at Waiouru Primary School were treated to a special lunch made up of tempting Malay foods. Dressing in Malay clothing added the finishing touch to the occasion and the costumes were amazingly colourful. The

boys had great difficulty keeping their sampins (skirts) tied up and their songkoks on their heads. The children in Room 30 had prepared a wonderful feast of exotic fruits with guava, mango, and pineapple being the main attraction and Melati's mother, Rose Williams, provided the more authentic foods. Curry puffs, chicken curry

and rice were all tasted by the children who were keen to come back for seconds!
