Raetihi stock sale
Prices for lambs remained fairly steady at last week's Raetihi sale with prices ranging from $3 1 to a top price of $40 for W aimarino Golf Club. Prices for cattle on the other hand dropped somewhat for weaners. Small-framed weaner steers sold for $145 to $210. Older mediumframed fetched from $170 to $275. Eighteen month old steers managed $290 to $365 . 2 & 1/2 year olds fetched $300 to $542. Small framed or young calves sold for $127 to $150. Some were weaned only three weeks previously. Older or bigger-framed heifers sold for $ 1 70 to $2 1 0, most were of Semmentall Charolais cross or Angus/Hereford cross. Eighteen month heifers ' gained $220 to $271 and 2&1/2 year cows gained $370 to $380. Compared to the sale on 3 April prices were down about $25 on the better, bigger-framed steers, to $30 or $40 for other stock. Heifers; were down about $30 to $35. The auctioneers said prices fetched about the same at many other saies in the region. Buyers came from Cambridge, Rangitikei, W anganui, T aumarunui and from within the district.
