Darts teams heading south for nationals

Both the senior and junior Waimarino Darts Club teams will head south this year to attend the New Zealand Nationals. The seniors will play in Nelson in June while the juniors will compete in Invercargill in July. The club currently has 38 members and is a member of the New Zealand Darts Council. Waimarino is part of Region Three which includes Hamilton, Waikato South, Te Kuiti, Taumarunui and Te Awamutu. Waimarino is the only club in their region with junior members. Stephanie Rapana said that the club was

very appreciative of the community support. "We have raised enough for the juniors and now we are concentrating on funds for the senior team for travel, accommodation and entry fees." Included in the teams are: juniors BJ Rapana, Megan Windle, Amon Crossan and Danny Foster; seniors Fatty Hiroti, Luana Takitimu, Dave Herewini and BJ Rapana who qualifies for both grades. Both groups will compete in women' s and men's pairs, mixed pairs and singles.
