Waimarino darts

On Sunday 6 April, Waimarino Club hosted the first of six annual Bowater Trophy competitions, with Hamilton now joining the region. There was an excellent turnout of 72 players plus spares and there were some very high standards of play during the day. The winners were Taumarunui 117, Te Kuiti 115, South Waikato (Tokoroa) 105,last Bowater winners - Waimarino 97, Hamilton 79 and Waipa (Te Awamutu) 50. Lou Most was thanked for the hangi and also the ladies in the kitchen: Tina Wallace, Cilla Brooks, Kathryn Most, Donna Herewini and Stef Rapana. On Wednesday 9 April an o enthusiastic crowd of 24 players turned out and a doubles night was played in three sections. The winners of the night were Fatty Hiroti and Boma Rapana after a play-off with Greg Windle and Lou Most, who were the runners-up. Highest start of the evening went to Luana Takitimu with 1 40. Lou won the highest score with 140 after a play-off with BJ, Fatty, Luana and Stephen. Greg won the highest finish with 95.

April : 6pm Ohakune Engineering Court (OCE), Lakes Rogues v Winpulp; Three Wise Men Court (TWMC), Turoa v Oddballs; Freemantle Builders Court (FBC), 33's v PAE. 7.15 OEC, Mix n Match v Hopeful Guns; TWMC, Four & One v Night Owls; FBC, Old Guns v BMW. 8.30 OEC, Mottley Crew v New Guns; TWMC, Parata Construction v Cool Dudes & Co; FBC, Highlighters v Cranston Crooks. Interclub - Central districts interclub started last week for the Men's divisions. Ohakune Men's division three team played the top seeds Wanganui first up at home. The match was a good even contest with Ohakune eventually winning 3-2. Individual results were: 1 J Laurenson b M O ' Kane 3-2,2 A O'Reily b A Ross 3-0, 3 B McLaughlan b M Van Deiden 3-1, 4 S Robinson lostto I Van Deiden 3-2, 5 B Cranston lost to G Hanlon 3-2. In the fourth division the Ohakune side narrowly lost 3-2 to Taihape at Taihape. Individual results were: 1 A Malcolm won 3-0, 2 P Richards lost 9-0, 3 D Forster won 3-0, 4 G T uthill lost 3-1,5 S Thrupp lost 3-0. Local Interclub starts tonight (15 April).

At the end of competition New Zealand rankings were given with Donna ranked number four Under 16's and Ei Leen number eight. Donna was also given a number six Australasian rank. The club thanks all those who made donations that made it possible for the girls to compete.
