Tyne, Rimu st work delayed

Upgrading of Rimu and Tyne streets in Ohakune will now be deferred until the 1997-98 financial year, to allow time for the replacement of the water main which runs under both streets. In the meantime, the culverts on each street will be upgraded and extended in preparation for the work.

The culvert in Tyne Street is to be lengthened on both sides to pro vide for two lanes, while the Rimu Street culvert will be upgraded by adding a headwall and wing walls, allowing for a footpath. The design of the upgrading has allowed for the maximum possible parking spaces, with angle parking along one side of Tyne Street.
