Great crowd for Easter chop
A crowd of more than 500 turned out to see the Easter Sunday chop, heldoutside the Raetihi CosmopolitanClub. "It was a great chop, many competitors congratulating us saying the blocks were some of the best pines they have chopped for some time," said organiser Mike Chaytor. There were around 40 entries and they used close to 300 blocks. Competitors came from all over the central and southern North Island including Rotoroa, Masterton, Te Kuiti and Wanganui. Events for the day included smali and large under hand, small and large standing, single and doubie sawing, boys' chop, local chop afid the Jack and Jill sawing event. Hayden Rassmusen from Wanganui who recently competed in the New Zealand under 21's, walked away with three prizes. Mr Chaytor said he would like to thank the following for their support: George Crighton, Tom Donaldson, Geoff Read and Tania Herewini (Chaytor). The hockey team took the wood, to use with their fund raising.
