Kids excited about new-look library

With redecorating of both the junior and senior school libraries completed over the past six months, Waiouru Primary School librarian Shirley Howard is enthusiastic about the new user-friendly improvements. Much of the work has been done voluntarily by staff who have appreciated the support of principal, Tauri Morgari. As Mrs Howard aims to provide something new each week, the children are keen to use the library to see the latest changes such as floor cushions to sit on while reading, new rugs to brighten up theatmosphere and a distinct New Zealand author collection to choose from. Mrs Howard' s love of children 's books means that she gets to indulge her passion by vetting all new books for the library. Heather Tipene, Room 10's teacher who is also in charge of the library, then gets bombarded with her requests to buy all the best books . The school is fortunate that so many people in the local community support the library through the Book Fair which will be held next term and again in November. Lucky and Arrow Book Club orders also earn the school bonus points which discount the cost of each book.
