Ohakune Women's Bowls

In January two teams of triples went to Wanganui to play in the open triples. Teams were A Nation, J Foster, N Burrows, V Brown, R Kaiwhare and B Hammond. Both teams won enough games to make post section. A Nation' s team lost their game in post section, while V Brown' s team went as far as the last eight. This month has so far been a busy time on the bowling calendar. On 5 March the team which won the champion of championship in the club — A Nation (skip), R Kaiwhare, B Hammond, L Thompson, had to travel to Marton to play against teams from within the Wanganui Centre. The girls made it as far as the semi finals, but were rained out and will have to travel to Wanganui on 24 March to firiish this event. On 25 March A and B Champion of Championships will be played in

Wanganui. Country Interclub competitions were played .in Ohakune Tuesday 11 March. Ohakune ladies were hosts to Marton, Hunterville, Taihape. Although the weather was a bit cool the games were played in very good spirits. This event was sponsored by King Country Energy. The winners of the day were Ohakune B team and Marton A team came second. The raffle which was donated by N Burrows was won by C Gray of Marton (No 34). This interclub event will be played each year. Next season Hunterville will be the hosts.
