Dahlia show quality, if not quantity

The Ohakune Garden Club's annual Dahlia Show organised by the Dahlia Show Committee, led by Lois McQuarrie with her band of willing helpers, was held at the Lion Den in Arawa Street on Saturday 1 March. The number of entries were slight down on last year owing to the vagrancies of the growing season, but were of a good standard. Judging was by Dawn Harper and Lynley Graham, both of Raetihi. The grateful thanks of the organising committee go to both these ladies. Champion Bloom overall of the show was a beautiful giant decorative variety entered by Myra Crowley which was awarded the Ohakune Garden Club Cup. The Oli ve Murdie Cup awarded for the champion bloom in the decorative section was won by Lois McQuarrie. The Ohakune Plunket Society Cup awarded for most points gained over all classes was won by Sheryl Wilson.
