12th Central District Clay Shoot held in Raetihi

The Raetihi Cosmopolitan Club hosted the 12th Annual Central District' s Chartered Club's Clay Shoot at the Waimarino Gun Club at Makaranui last weekend. Clubs participating included: Taupo, Te Kuiti, Wanganui, Levin, Tongariro as well as the two local clubs Raetihi and Ohakune.

Competitors were welcomed to the Waimarino Gun Club at the social after the day's shoot by Raetihi Cosmopolitan Club president Keith Leary who said he looked forward to hosting visitors to next year's shoot in the Cosmopolitan Club's new rooms in Seddon Street. The day' s competition involved three major events: 25target shoot,15-target shoot, 5-man team shoot. The events were sponsored by DB Breweries, Bell's Whisky and the Raetihi Cosmopolitan Club. Results: 25-target shoot: 1st J Dempsey (Raetihi), 2nd P Johnson (Taupo), 3rd D Colson (Te Kuiti); 15-target shoot: 1st D Colson(Te Kuiti), 2nd W Nae (Taupo), 3rd E Sue (Ohakune); 5-man team shoot: 1st Taupo (95/100), I 2nd Levin (94/100), 3rd Raetihi (93/100). High gun: Jim Dobson
