Raetihi students selected for King Country touch team
Three young Raetihi touch rugby players were chosen to play for the King Country (under-18) mixed youth touch rugby team in the National Touch Rugby championships which were held in Palmerston North from 24-26 January. They were Chaana Morgan (14), Ashley Brown (15) and Robert Tapa (16). The players wish to thank all those who supported them in their fund-raising efforts. Each of them needed just over $400 to cover the costs of entering the Nationals including team uniforms and travel. They also wish to
thank Rodney O'Neil and Rotary for their sponsorship. The King Country team did not reach the finals. However the experience gained has given the trio encouragement to carry on and they hope their being chosen for the team will be an incentive to others from the Waimarino "to have a go".
