College students perform for TVNZ
Te Rapu mahi a ringa (The Maori Culture Group) at Ruapehu College welcomed the Producer and Cameraman for the TVNZ programme "Mai Time" on Thursday afternoon. The group was filmed performing kapa haka, action songs and haka. Four Maori students were interviewed in different locations in the area to get an insight into their lives in this rural school and community. The programme is to go to air on 10 May. In other college news... • Athletics sports were a great success on Tuesday with Kiwi Whanau taking out the points with incredibly high participation and some great performances. • Swimming sports will be held in Waiouru today at the swimming complex. All parents and supporters are wel-
come to attend this fun event. Kiwi are expected to put up a great fight to become the top point scorers. • There were 53 students who travelled to Wanganui on Thursday night to watch "Romeo & Juliet". This trip was organised by the Englished Department and greatly enjoyed by all. • Distance learning by Telelink (computer-aided) has started 3rd Form Japanese and 7th Form Physics. This involves teachers from other schools, tutoring the students via the computer link-up and speaker phones. Interested parents are welcome to come and observe these sessions. Contact Mrs Trask at the College. • A group of riders will be representing the College at Wanganui Showjumping on Wednesday 5 March.
