Major power shutdown
A Transpower transformer which 'blew' shortly after 3.20pm yesterday caused a major shutdown in Ohakune and Raetihi. Many businesses depending on electronic processing as well as domestic users were unable to operate their check-outs, tills, lights, take-away equipment, refridgerators, microwave ovens, cooking rangers etc for almost four hours. Power was resored soon after 7.00pm.
