Raetihi Club back in the saddle
Raetihi Pony Club held a show jumping carnival in December in which 30 Competitors participated. It was an ideal opportunity for riders and mounts to get back into jumping mode though for some combinations the "Christmas jumps" were quite an obstacle! The highlight of the day was the "Masters' Mayhem" event which allowed those whose day had been taken up with organisational pursuits and parenting, to have a go. Between 7 and 10 January, six Raetihi Pony Club members and their support crew, instructors, mothers and cooks ventured to the National Equestrian Centre at Aratiatia for their Pon^Club Camp. The team was impressed with the facility which had dressage arenas, show jumps (already set out!) and innumerable cross country jumps readily available. The animals were well catered for with grazing and covered yards, while very acceptable accommodation was available for the human contingent in the Charisma Hall. Everybody had a great time and really appreciated the facilities and the reasonable cost. While at camp three senior Pony Club members, Kelly Godfrey, Marni McGregor and Sally Williams were put through their paces for their 'B' certificate assessment. Certificate examinations were held on 1 February and the three 'B' certificate candidates (along with Adrian Fetzer from Ohakune Pony Club) and Nicola Smith and Claire Hyland who sat their 'C+' certificates, were all successful.
