Safety promotion sees Raetihi woman win car
Karen Prince from the Ruapehu Hotel in Raetihi was "absolutely blown away" when she heard she had won a brand new Ford Falcon XR6 in a Caltex road safety competition. She was one of seven car winners out of more than one million New Zealanders who entered. Karen entered the competition at the Starline Service Station in Raetihi. The competition was linked to road
safety with each entry form carrying a collectable road safety tip signed by New Zealand personalities,JonahLomu,JasonGunn, Andrew Mehrtens, JeffWilsofi, Bob Charles and David Lange. "We decided to promote safe driving over what's traditional^ one of the busiest times on New Zealand roads," Caltex managing director, Jim Champin said. "We believe this competition and the road safety campaign we ran around it all contributed to the lower road toll this year," he said, "by raising awareness of key road safety issues in a simple and direct manner."
