Waimarino Shears results
The y.ear's show saw a good number of entries with competitors coming from Gisborne, Napier, Dannevirke, Feilding, Woodville, Hawera, Te Kuiti and the Wanganui and Waimarino regions. Events included were the novice men and women, junior, intermediate, senior, open, contractors, relay and veterans. The cream of the day ' s event is always the open finals and the stand was packed with about 100 supporters

Junior mens: 1 Neil Fagan; 2 Jason Bond; 3 Neil Harold. Best quality local shearer, Clyde Rennie. Intermediate mens: 1 Dion Kumeroa; 2 Rangitane Paewai. Seniors final: 1 j Shaun Hill; 2 Bill Nikora; 3 Justin Bell. Open final: 1 Digger Balme; 2 j Paul Grainger; 3 John Kirkpatrick. Vet- i erans final: 1 Son TeKura; 2 Duncan : Metekingi; 3 Tom Mowat. Best quality shearer, Bully Chambers. Contrac- , tors: 1 Dad's Army; 2 Edmonds team; j 3 Trevor Condon team. There was a cutting of cake to celebrate the 21 years of competition in the Waimarino. Judges Tom and Marg Martin who have come to this event every year since it started were asked ' to cut the cake. A key was presented to the current president Jim Edmonds Jnr. Organisers of the event wish to thank all the helpers including the rousies, timekeepers, boys out back in the pens ^ and the many volunteers cooking and serving meal for judges and other officials.
