Fish and Game Council Elections Pursuant to regulation 8 of the Fish & Game Council Elections Regulations 1990 notice is hereby given of the intention to hold an election for twelve members of the Taranaki Fish and Game Council on Tuesday 8 April 1997, closing at 5.00pm on that day for hand delivered votes and at 5.00pm on Thursday 10 April 1997 for postal votes. Call for Candidates: Persons wishing to stand for Council must hold a current adult whole season gamebird or sports fishing licence, and must record their candidacy with the Returning Officer by 5.00pm on Friday 28 February 1997 on the form available from the office of the Council situated at 1H Taupo Quay, P O Box 4152, Wanganui by returning the completed form to the Returning Officer at the Office of the Council. The candidacy paper shall include supporting biographical notes, limited to 250 words, and shall state the subregion for wbich the candidate wishes to be elected. Eligibility to Vote: A person is entitled to vote at the election if he/she purchased a 1995/96 or a 1996/97 adult whole season fishing licence before 8 December 1996 or a 1996 adult whole season game licence that entitles that person to fish or hunt in the Taranaki Fish ad Game region. Electoral Roll: The electoral roll of persons eligible to vote in the election is available for inspection at the office of the Council. Those persons who have indicated when purchasing their licence their desire to vote have been automatically placed on the roll. Additional persons wishing to vote, and who believe -they are not presently on the roll, shall, subject to satisfactory proof of licence purchase to the Returning Officer, be entered on the roll. The enrolment form for such admission to the electoral roll can be obtained from the Council office, and should be completed and returned to the Returning Officer by 7 March 1997. Subregions: The following five sub-regions have been adopted by the Council for this election: New Plymouth sub-region: that area generally described as New Plymouth District; Stratford sub-region: that area generally described as Stratford District; South Taranaki sub-region: that area generally described as South Taranaki District; Wanganui sub-region: that area generally described as Wanganui District and the part of Rangitikei District that lies within the Taranaki Fish and Game Region; Ruapehu sub-region: that area generally described as the part of Ruapehu District that lies within the Taranaki Fish and Game Region.
