Rural romp a feature of the Show

The Sport Ruapehu Rural Romp is set to be a crowd pleaser at this Saturday's A&P Show. Teams of four people, which must include men and women, will race against the clock, with the two fastest racing in a final to find the winner. Prizes will include $100 for first, $50 second and $50 for the 'greatest crowd pleaser'. The top team type competition includes: DRIVE THE NAIL. Supplied with four nails and one hammer, each member drives the nail into the wood in turn. CRAWL UNDER THE NETS. All members of the team must crawl under the net. OVER/UNDER THE HURDLES All team members must go over the first hurdles, under the second hurdles, over the third hurdles. BUILD A SHEEP PEN out of hay bales supplied. Teams must erect a pen that will be free standing when they move on. PEN THE SHEEP. Teams must get all the sheep in the pen. Before they move on, the sheep must be contained in the pen. CARRY YOUR MATE. Teams are supplied with a saw horse. Two team members .must carry one team mate to the other end on the saw horse. The 4th team mate waits for two members and the saw horse to come back and carry one team mate to the other end on the saw horsp. WALK THE PLANK Teams are provided with three drums and one plank. Three members of your team must get from point A to point B without touching the ground, and using only the four pieces of equipment supplied. The 4th team member may help on the ground, but must not carry or hold any of their team members. STACK THE TRAILER Teams must stack a trailer with all of the hay bales supplied. PULL THE TRAILER Teams must pull their trailer through the slalom pole course. THE WOOL PACK JUMP All four members must be in the wool pack and get from point C over the finish line. All members and the wool pack must be completely over the line to finish. '
