Cadet training
Members of the Rangitikei -Ruapehu Cadet Unit were treated to an interesting night last Tues day in Waiouru, with the start. of their new training year. The junior class concentrated on mastering drill routines and commands, with some work on areas of personal development also being undertaken. This class will devote most of their time to these basic requirements for the first three months of their time as cadets. For the more advanced cadets, more technical training is included. Last week this involved navigation procedures using maps and compasses to determine grid references and instruction in how to find their way across country. A reminder that the new intake of cadets will start on 1 1 February at 6.15pm for persons aged between 13 and 16 years of age. Transport leaves the Raetihi Information Centre at 5 .30pm and the T aihape Police Station at 5 .45pm.
