Jubilee Park bridge soon

Jubilee Park in Ohakune could have a new foot bridge before winter, if a proposal put to the Waimarino Community Board at their last meeting by council chief executive officer Cliff Houston is acceptable. Mr Houston told the board that the first plans, involving a 'glulam' type bridge, using glued laminated beams, would have cost $32,000 but only $27,000 was available. However, he said council staff were looking into a plan to use steel girders that were a contribution from the Wallis family towards the Karioi Domain Bridge replacement, which were surplus to requirements.
