Council review
This is an important year for the Ruapehu District Council and its relationship with the community, thanks to a change in the law governing local bodies. Over the next 1 8 months, as a result of amendments to the Local Government Act, the council must review all its activities, the cost of these, and how they are funded , said Cliff Houston, council chief executive. Mr Houston stated that, as a consequence, the services delivered, the method of delivery, and who pays for these services may
change. He said the council is to undertake the review in an open manner, in partnership - . with the community. It has committed itself to a consultation process based on "focus groups" made up of representatives of the community.
