Winter Ski Ruapehu plan finalised

After the "diseruptions" of 1995 and 1996, tourism businesses throughout the district are preparing to launch the annual "Ski Ruapehu" promotion in mid-April. Last week 34 business people from around the district met at the Whakapapa Visitor Centre to finalise the region's winter co-op-erative marketing programme for 1997. Council marketing manager Bruce Rollinson, who presented the plan, said it was very pleasing to have such a large turnout and commented on the excellent contribution and exchange of views made by the-operators to the planning of the campaign. "It's a case of having to do more with less, and while it would be desirable to have a larger budget, we have to consider the financial situation the industry is experiencing. It forces us to be more innovative in our approach which is upside of having less resource to work with," said Mr Rollinson. Campaign forms are at information centres.
