Thieves target memorial planters
Who stoie our plants? So asked Jean City's Debby Deane beside one of Ohakune's new planter boxes with missing plants this week. The boxes, installed late last year, have been planted by local retailers and Ohakune Primary School children are maintaining them. Several of the boxes were noticed with large gaps where vandals had removed entire plants, roots and all. Apart from the obvious loss, the thefts are upsetting as the planters are a memorial to Ohakune citizen Gladys Goldfinch.
