New libraries leader

Ruapehu's libraries have a new person at the helm, with Tessa Hall, community services manager, now having oversight of Ruapehu District Council's libraries along with other community services and her usual personnel role. "We are all looking forward to the challenge of providing a new customer focus," said Tessa Hall. "Whilst we will continue to provide as much reference material as we are able the libraries' primary focus is the provision of reading material for all age groups and interests. Our objective is to provide a

service to the customer," said Mrs Hall. "In future the purchasing of books will be undertaken by the staff who serve those customers. My staff are interested to hear what material clients wish to read and how they enjoy the new books in the collection". In addition to the books at each library, the material at other district libraries is available and easily obtainable by the use of the library computer system. Staff are also happy to order books on interloan from the National Library or libraries in other districts. A list'of new titles is available.
