Ambulance petrol stolen, lives in danger
Of concern to police was the theft of petrol from the ambulance while it was parked at the ambulance station in Queen Street, Raetihi, overnight during the week ending 5 January. Most of the petrol was syphoned from its tank. An ambulance officer told the Bulletin that had there been a call-out during the night to the Parapara, Ruatiti or Ohakune — in fact any where more than 10km from the base, it was likely that the ambulance would have run out of petrol, which could heave meant the loss of someone's
life. Police said this type of offence could have endangered the lives of other people from any where in the Waimarino. Another imbecilic act was the vandalism of an ambulance parked behind the Waimarino Health Centre in Seddon Street, Raetihi, Saturday 11 or Sunday 12 January. Offenders kicked in the driver's door and smashed the rear view mirror. Police enquiries into the incidents are continuing.
