Jamboree decision

The Scouts Association decision to move the 1998 national jamboree from Waiouru was made in July, with no consultation with the Ruapehu District Council, marketing manager Bruce Rollinson has advised. The Bulletin was not made aware that the decision was not made recently when it reported the matter last week. Mr Rollinson said some people had commented that the cancellation was proof that the Bounce Back campaign was not working, without being aware that the decision had been made before the campaign had begun and while Ruapehu was still active.
