Top medal for top Waiouru NCO

Warrant Officer Class One Ian Foster receives his New Zealand Meritorious Service Medal from the Chief of General Staff Major General Piers Reid CBE in a ceremony last week. WOl Foster has been in the New Zealand Army for over 21 years, currently serving as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Officer Cadet School of New Zealand here in Waiouru. The Meritorious Service Medal is a very prestigous award, eligible only to senior non commissioned officers who have served 21 years or longer and may only be held by 20 serving personnel at any one time.
