Pipiriki Road works contractor replaced
One of the contractors working on Pipiriki Road — on seal extension work — has been replaced. "Pratf s contract caused major problems and the arbitration case will continue in December," the Ruapehu District Council was told in a financial statement for the four months to 31 October 1996 at their meeting on Friday. "The contractor has in the meantime been instructed to leave the site and the work will now be completed by the second lowest tenderer, Byfords Construction,"
the report continues. "Negotiations have taken place and Byfords Construction have already started on this project." The report shows that $403,000 has been spent so far of a budget of $1,230,000. Work on the two rehabilitation contracts on the road are continuing. "Both Byfords and Fulton Hogan are fully engaged with their contracts and good progress has been made. No problems are foreseen and all indications are that this project will be successfully completed in this financial year," stated the report.
