Bowls

The Ohakune ladies bowlers have had a very busy bowling calendar this month. On 8 November they played a challenge game against Taihape for the Simonson Cup, which Ohakune retained. On 1 1 November, two teams from Taihape travelled to Ohakune to play for the Sleadman Congrieve Cup and the Rerr Rose bowl, which Ohakune also retained. This event is played every year between the two clubs and play alternates between Taihape and Ohakune. On 15 November a team from Ohakune travelled to Wanganui to play for another challenge cup named the Pluck Cup against Wanganui East Helmore Park, but was not able to bring that back. Then another team of ladies were on the road again to travel to Waitara to play in the Chartered Clubs event, which is played over one week. Some of the girls who stayed home had to defend for the Simonson Cup against Victoria Bowling Club which they lost to the visitors on Thursday 21 November. On Sunday 24 November four players travelled to Wanganui to play in the open pairs. On Sunday 1 December the club is holding a mixed draw tournament which will start at 9.30am. They hope for a good turn out for the special Christmas tournament which has prizes worth $500.
