Warriors sports team report success
The Warriors sports team travelled to Pipiriki to participate in the Kotahitanga Building Society Field Day on 2-3 November. A strong team of 23 players and three adults went to Pipiriki to show their sporting ability on the banks of the Whanganui river. In the mixed netball, shooters Richard Shanks and Chaana Morgan showed how to put the ball away leaving New Zealand shooters Nolene Taura Barnett and Lelane Reid on their knees begging. Meanwhile the touch rugby team was not doing as well and were removed from the competition. Sunday was a bright day with the girls first up in women' s netball. With only two teams entered the girls took a clean sweep
to Pipiriki Social Club 5-24. The volleyball team were doing well with four wins and one loss, coming second in their section. Prizegiving came with the Warriors taking the women' s netball trophy. A new trophy, the Taonga "Te Huinga", was presented to the overall team of the weekend. The Warriors sports team won the trophy and were very privileged to have it for the first time. With this great win manager Brendon Morgan said he was very proud and will hold the taonga with honour. Thanks went to Jenny Cresswell who has been womens netball captain for the year and has led them to sucess. Also thanked were the van dri vers and Te Awhina for the invitation to the tournament.
