Council company boards change
The Board of RDC Holdings Ltd have announced changes in the membership in the boards of directors of Ruapehu Construction Ltd (RCL) and Ruapehu Quarries Ltd (RQL). Terry Podmore, chairman of both companies, has submitted his resignation. He had previously indicated that this would be his last year with the companies as he was moving to the Hawkes Bay to pursue his business venture there. The board and Mr Podmore agreed that the Annual General Meetings of the two companies held last week which he chairs was the most appropriate time to make a changeover. The board has also accepted the resignation of John Martin. The number of directors on the board of Ruapehu Construction Ltd will be reduced from four to three whilst the number on the board of Ruapehu Quarries Ltd will remain at three. To fill the vacancy on the board of RCL, RDC Holdings has appointed Brett Catley, general manager of Byfords and managing director of Rangitikei Contracts Ltd. Bill Byford, the managing director of Byfords, has been appointed to the board of RQL. Additionally Michael Sewell, an existing director of RCL, has also been appointed to the board of RCL. Garrick Workman remains on the boards of both
companies. The board of RDC Holdings is confident that the appointments of Bill Byford and Brett Catley will inject considerable contracting expertise and be of great assistance in the transition in the case of RCL from being a company specialising in maintenance contracts to being more active in the construction field and, in the case of RQL, the expansion of a viable quarry business, said RDC Holdings Ltd chairman Cliff Houston. "RDC Holdings would like to extend its thanks to the outgoing directors, Messrs Martin and Podmore for their contributions towards the running and development of the companies over a number of years. RCL is now changing direction and different skill sets are called for but this should not be taken as a reflection on their performance as they have both worked hard for the benefit of the company" said Mr Houston.
