New Jubilee Bridge next year
Replacement of the Jubilee Park footbridge in Ohakune is contained within the 1996-97 council annual plan, with $27,000 set aside for the job, funded from general rates.
This was confirmed at the Waimarino Community Board November meeting. The Army has been approached regarding the construction of the bridge as a training exercise, with a reply yet to be received. At the same time, alternative designs and costs have been established with the intention to carry out the work "early in the new year", stated property officer Allan Low.
