• Students have been enjoying education outside the classroom over the last few weeks with trips to the Army Museum, biology field trips | to the Tongariro National Park and learning about how to grow pine tree seedlings ! at Ian Forster's nursery in Ngapakahi Road. The ST AR funded course in forestry also continues to op- > erate successfully. • A Red Cross first aid course was held on 5-7 November at the Ruapehu 1 College Learning Centre in | Rangataua. Demand was high and another course may be held to cater for the 1 high demand. • Students are running a radio show on Ski FM on Friday nights from 6-8pm. Students are gaining expe- : rience in all facets of radio work. • Singing practice has begun for the senior prizegiving which is to be held on Friday 15 November at 1pm. This brings to a 1 close the academic year for fifth, sixth and seventh formers who are now released to study for examinations held in November. All parents and friends of. the school are welcome to attend. • Activities week is loom- ' ing for all third and fourth i formers. The range of activities is varied with trips ' to Abel Tasman National Park, Rotorua, Wanganui Polytech, Whanganui River, Taupo, Wellington Art expedition and those staying at home choosing from community service, firearms, abseiling, kayaking anda 'mixedbag' option. • An interwhanau volleyball competition was held during lunch times. The competition was organised by seniors and won by Huia who didn't lose a game. • Impromptu speech competitions have also been held with the winner, Margaret Mowat, speaking about her holiday plans. • The interwhanau shooting competition was held this week. Tui won the competition while top scorers were Peter Billet from W eka and Dion Nicholls from Huia.
